Dr. Dennis Scanlon is a professor of health policy and administration at The Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on health systems improvement, including the role of information, incentives, and behavior change for improving health care outcomes. He is currently the principal investigator for the evaluation of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Aligning Forces for Quality initiative. Dr. Scanlon is also working with the Commonwealth Fund and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement to plan a demonstration to reduce preventable and avoidable hospital readmissions.
Dr. Scanlon received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Villanova University, his master’s in economics from the University of Pittsburgh, and his Ph.D. in health services organization and policy from the University of Michigan with a concentration in economics and public health.
