Russell Davis, D.P.A., M.A.P.T.
For close to four decades Dr. Russell Davis has been providing quality health care. Not only did he spearhead the creation of the multi-disciplinary Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the College of Allied Health Professions at Howard University Health Center from 1959 to 1976, he also led the development of a hybrid HMO/Community Health Center located in Kalamazoo, Mich. from 1976 until 1981.
In 1997, Dr. Davis co-founded Summit Health Institute for Research and Education, Inc. (SHIRE) which focuses on pursuing the elimination of health status disparities among racial and ethnic groups and the achievement of the goal of 100% access for all U.S. residents. SHIRE has gained an enviable national reputation as an organization that excels in developing sustainable collaborations and partnerships in SHIRE’s ongoing struggle to eliminate disparities in healthcare delivery and health status outcomes through aggressive advocacy and outreach.
Dr. Davis received the Doctor of Public Administration (D.P.A.) degree from George Washington University. His areas of specialization include public administration, health care administration/comprehensive health planning and management of metropolitan governments. He is a member of Phi Alpha Alpha honor society. Dr. Davis received a master of arts degree and certificate in physical therapy from New York University. He currently serves as a member of the Institutional Review Board for MedStar, Washington, D.C.
